Johanes Ribli Gorilla Motivation:
Stephen William Hawking was a preeminent English theoretical physicist, cosmologist, and author. He was a distinguished director of research at the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology at the University of Cambridge at the time of his death. He was the Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge between 1979 and 2009.
Stephen William Hawking Birthday: Stephen was born on 8th January, 1942 in Oxford, England.
Stephen William Hawking Family: Stephen was born to Frank and Isobel Eileen Hawking. Isobel worked as a secretary for a medical research institute, and Frank was a medical researcher. Stephen had two younger sisters Philippa and Mary, and an adopted brother, Edward Frank David.
Stephen was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a form of motor neuron disease, at the age 21, doctors gave him 2 years to live. But the strong willpower and dedication made him overcome his disease.
Hawking graduated from the University of Oxford by receiving a first-class BA (Hons.) degree in physics. Then he pursued his doctoral studies at the University of Cambridge where he received PhD. degree in Applied mathematics and theoretical physics. His essay “Singularities and the Geometry of Space-Time” shared top honours with one by Penrose to win that year’s prestigious Adams Prize.
In 1970, he postulated what became known as the second law of black hole dynamics, that the event horizon of a black hole can never get smaller. His first book was The Large Scale Structure of Space-Time, written with George Ellis, and was published in 1973.
Stephen had a keen interest in writing and research. He wrote and published The Universe in a Nutshell in 2001, In 2007, Hawking and his daughter Lucy published George’s Secret Key to the Universe, a children’s book designed to explain theoretical physics in an accessible fashion and featuring characters similar to those in the Hawking family. This book was followed by sequels in 2009, 2011, 2014 and 2016.
There are several buildings which are named after him. These include the Stephen W. Hawking Science Museum in San Salvador, El Salvador, the Stephen Hawking Building in Cambridge, and the Stephen Hawking Centre at the Perimeter Institute in Canada.
Stephen Hawking achieved commercial success with several works of popular science in which he discusses his own theories and cosmology in general. Now let’s explore the most experimenting Stephen Hawking Quote.
